Product Description
Dexter the dog is so little that Cleevis the tomcat bullies him. But little Dex has dreams—big dreams. He wants to be a superhero. So he reads all the comic books he can, builds his muscles, and even orders a hero suit. Suddenly, even Cleevis needs his help! Dexter has determination, spirit, and heart as he proves, above all, that no matter how little you are, you can still do very big things.

DEX and SUPERDOG (The Heart of a Hero) July 13, 2007 C. VRANJES (Bay Area, Ca) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
DEX and SUPERDOG (The Heart of a Hero) are the SAME BOOK do not get fooled into buying both. What a RIP OFF!
A Nice Alternative June 27, 2007 Ann T. My son has come home from preschool interested in superheroes, but I think he's too young for Spiderman, and other violent, heavily marketed characters. So I was very happy to find this book - it's clever and sweet (Dex uses his superpowers to help other animals - organizing a neighborhood cleanup, for instance, and in the end helping the cat who's been picking on him). My son finds it very funny. And the illustrations by Mark Buehner are, as always, gorgeous.
Illustrations Are Fantastic! November 11, 2006 Second Wind IV LLC I actually found a bday card with some of the images from this book first and fell in love with Mark Buehner's art style. The art is so amazing. While the story was good, I wouldn't say it's great. Just wanted it to live up to the caliber of the images. That said, it will be a favorite of mine because our little 6 1/2lbs dachshund could have been in this book.

Engaging and witty drawings. A well written story, with lots of fun and action. This is a top-notch book, and my kindergartener really enjoys it. But why is there a witch flying across the sky?
Superdog, super book October 29, 2006 Gillian Allard (Seattle, WA, USA) We love this book. It demonstrates that to be super takes hard work, but pays off and that being super isn't just about doing "big" things, but little things can be just as super. The ending shows that working together is a win/win for everyone. This book is great for 4-5 year-olds, but my 7-year old loves it as well.
